No one wants to like me on Facebook

So my marketing consultant keeps advising me on how I need to be on social media more. “Post on Facebook! Tweet on Twitter!” she keeps telling me. “The more people who share, the more the word will get out about what you do.”  While I completely believe in the power of social media, I have to laugh because, really, who is going to like my page or retweet my tweets? Getting lice is the LAST thing people want to promote. No one wants anyone to think they may have had it.

Then, lice invades.  And now those same people can’t stop talking about it. It’s cathartic to know that you’re not the only one and that there are tonnes of people who have gone through the same thing and survived. One of the most difficult aspects of my job is educating people. Social media provides the best method to do just that. On Facebook, people share their experiences. On Twitter, people tweet about their recommendations. In this day and age knowledge is power but only if it’s the correct knowledge. Educating people about what not to do is more important than what they should do. I’ve seen well-meaning people try to make it better quickly but only succeed in making it worse. So go ahead and share that information folks. Sure I want you to promote my business but I really want the facts promoted more. Our technicians are trained to help and to listen. Do not feel ashamed or embarrassed. Just give us a call or come in.

Find Lice Geeks on Facebook and on Twitter.
